ROSK-The Tower: 22 Flamerule 1479 DR 2

The Order of the Red Circle consists of:
Donaar, a Dragonborn Paladin of Kelemvor,
Travok, a Dwarvin Cleric of Kelemvor,
Scapin the Sly, a Halfling Rogue &
myself - En'Kethradath, an Eladrin War Wizard.

During our short rest there is a tinging on the metal front door. We open it and there… is Scapin.

How’d he know where we were?
I dunno.
Scapin interrupts “My rock said you were here.
O-kay

Vakkar, having only felt compelled to stay with us while Scapin was gone, decides that it is time to leave and he takes off as Scapin has returned.

Next time, look for all the bells” says Donaar, we decide to head up the stairwell. Scapin sneaks up the stairwell in dim light, and as he reaches the top a dagger flies toward his head, but he ducks just in time. The dagger clanks down the stairwell. Keth hits Travok on the shoulder and says “You think you and your chair can make it up the stairwell this time?” Travok grumbles a reply. “I’ll get up the stairwell, I’m still here aren’t I?

Travok then thunders up the stairs, and lets loose with a Hymn of Resurgence, giving us stamina and causing our enemies to feel less than stable on their feet. Scapin sly flourishes a dark kreeper, then Keth comes up and Acid Mires a kreeper and a Ettercap Fanguard. Then she chill strikes another Ettercap, dazing him. He then moves away onto the ceiling, preparing to pounce. One of the fallen kreepers stood up and the ettercap stands as well, trying to attack Scapin and Travok. Donaar scampers up the stairwell and attacks an Ettercap, but misses. Donaar decides to attack again in a heroic effort, breathes lightning at the two creatures in the Acid Mire. One hits and falls down, taking more acid damage. The other is missed. The kreeper in the back, attacks Donaar and shifts him into the Acid mire. Another Kreeper attacks Donaar and hits him with radiant light, dazing him.

Travok is an immobilized dwarf. He decides to use Righteous Brand to attack the Ettercap Fangs around him. Then Travok decides to discover where the closest alcoholic beverage is. He finds a whisky flask at his feet, so he picks it up and drinks from it. Scapin attacks the prone kreeper at his feet and killed it, causing it to explode in inky blackness, blinding Travok and Scapin. Keth comes in and uses chilling cloud centered on Travok, allowing for the enemies to not be able to hit us as easily. An ettercap spits at Donaar and immobilizes him. Donaar attacks the ettercap, splitting his chittenous shell in the back, killing him, he then is unimobilized. Donaar again gets hit by radiant light and is dazed. Travok makes an opportune attack on an ettercap, slicing a gash on its arm, as it tries to attack and causing it to miss. Scapin, still blind, swings wildly at an ettercap, missing it. Keth magic missiles a kreeper, killing it, causing it to explode, blinding Travok. Donaar attacks the ettercap he has challenged and bloodies him. He is then attacked again by radiant light and is dazed (again).

Travok attacks but misses, and is still bloodied. Scapin moves to a new position and attacks the ettercap harassing the blind Travok, killing it dead. Keth moves forward magic missiles the ettercap in the back of the head, spraying brains all over Donaar’s shield. Donaar then slings his brain covered shield at one of the Kreepers, hitting it. Travok meanwhile gets attacked by the Kreeper, and is now dazed as well as blinded. The Kreepers both "poof!" turn invisible. They reappear on the stairwell, and Travok yells at us, Scapin comes and kills one, while Keth runs down the difficult stairwell and teleports in front of the Kreeper. He attacks her and she him, but they both miss, Badly! The Kreeper moves down the stairwell and Travok follows and attacks where he thinks the Kreeper is at. Keth swings and misses the Kreeper, who dazes her with a blinding attack. But now Travok can now see the critter and attacks it, killing it, staying out of the range of its blinding spray.

We take a Short Rest to replenish ourselves.

Scapin sneaks further up the stairwell and sees a dark kreeper and a hallway with three doors leading to different rooms. He then hits the kreeper with a Sly Flourish, and from an adjacent room a dark shadow moves through the wall and drops a magical darkness. Scapin then attacks the kreeper next to him and bloodies it. Travok moves forward and uses Hymn of Resurgence to give us stamina and the enemies he hits can be knocked prone if attacked. Donaar moves us and attacks, but misses. Keth uses chilling cloud, but misses her targets. The double doors next to Scapin open, and out comes a Shadar-Kai that attacks Scapin, restraining him with shadow coils. Then he teleports next to Keth and disappears. The creepy shadow guy turns insubstantial and moves through everyone, we all miss our attacks on him, he moves down the stairwell and disappears. Scapin makes himself mobile again. Travok moves over to the Kreeper and attacks it, killing it, and blinding Donaar. Donaar moves into another room, and can see again. Keth can’t figure out if the kreepers are really still there or not so she moves out of the stairwell to where Donaar is ... in the light. Scapin and Travok double team the Kreeper, who runs away just into Donaar’s waiting grasp.

In the curtained area is a large elaborate bed with furs, there is some documentation that matches the tapestries. This is the Personal Domain of the Scepter Lord that once ruled the Scepter Tower. Looking around we find four more stone pieces of the puzzle door.

We rest for a short time.

We decide to head upstairs again. It is dark but not the inky magical blackness from before. After tying a sunrod to Travok’s Banner, we head upwards. There are five alabaster pillars, on stands in a circle, eight stands total. Magic runes and scripts have been carved into the stands and chalk symbols have been added to the pillars. All of these are quite simply extra magic to imbue the power of the rite, which will be performed to ritually bind a spirit. The circle is directly linked to the shadow-fell and writing is old Netheril language, tied to ancient Netherese. We deduce that the people who are behind this ritual want to binding the spirit of the Lady Saharel to thier dark purposes. From the rite I can also deduce that a native of the Shadowfell is needed to complete the ritual, as well as the other three pillars.

There is an old man, who tells us his name is Hector, tied up and chained to a corner. He asks about Thorin, and we tell him we chased him off. He is lying about being forced to help out Thorin complete the rite. Donaar grabs the old man and tells him he is lying. The old man’s eyes glow red and he transforms laughingly into a large creature.
