Donaar, a Dragonborn Paladin of Kelemvor,
Travok, a Dwarvin Cleric of Kelemvor,
myself - En'Kethradath, an Eladrin War Wizard,
Vakkar, a Shifter Ranger,
Kaayakan, a wolf Companion.
We charge into what used to be a crafter’s hall, and see six Gnome Skulks with leather armor and crossbows. There is a Gnomish Archanist in the rear and two more in the back corners. The crossbow gnomes start shooting at Donaar and disappear. One actually hits Vakkar but cannot disappear. One of the arcanists slows Donaar and Vakkar with an illusory spell. They keep missing Donaar, which is lucky. Kayaakan charges and attacks the Arcanist and Donaar charges in as best as possible. Keth misses the Arcanist, and Travok Lances the gnomes with Faith.
Another gnome Arcanist misses Donaar. The gnomes fire their crossbows but miss and hides. A gnome Arcanist fires at Kayaakan and dazes her. Travok gets hit by a crossbow. Vakkar charges in and bloodies the Arcanist. Donaar jumps off the stairwell at Keth’s urging and dances over to the Arcanist and slices him in half. Keth lays down a freezing cloud on the other two Arcanists while Travok lance of faiths a gnome but misses. An archanist takes some damage then moves and hits Keth with a bolt of radiant damage dazing her. Another sticks her with a crossbow bolt while two others miss.
The other arcanist fires off an area burst that slows the entire party. Vakkar and Kayaakan move into position the attack the two Gnome Skulks, while Donaar runs over and positions himself in front of the far arcanist. Keth hits that one with a Magic missile. Travok moves forward and Lance of Faiths the arcanist nearest him, who then disappears, reappears farther away and attacks Keth, but misses her, then teleports out of view! The gnome next to Vakkar pops out to crossbow Keth, and Vakkar attacks him opportunely. He does the same to the other! Some other Skulks try to crossbow Keth and Travok but miss!
Vakkar and Kayaakan sense the hidden skulks and he slices one in half with his axe while she gnaws the other’s face! Donaar runs across the room. Keth teleports to attack where she knows there are some gnomes and color sprays them! Then she chilling clouds the area hoping she hit some because she couldn’t see them.
“As soon as a G-nome pops up I’m G-nonna G-Blast his face!” -- Travok
Travok then misses a gnome when he actually appears. The others near Keth appear, but miss her. One arcanist hits Donaar dazing him. Keth attacks the arcanist nearest her with magic missile caving his face in! The gnome skulk nearest her attacks opportunely and misses. Travok moves in and splits the sky on a gnome skulker pushing him prone into some boxes, and that prone gnome is now invisible.
An arcanist reappears and attacks Donaar but misses him, but there is nothing to hide behind so he stays visable. Vakkar kills one of the gnomes beheading him and then he and Kayaakan move over to attack the arcanist killing him with a beheading. Donaar marks his gnome and then bloodies him. Keth magic missiles the nearest gnome. Travok cant seem to spot the gnomes so he shifts around and prepares an attack for when he can see one. And then he can see the gnome and kills it with a blinding light. The two nearest Keth pop out and attack Keth but miss her. Vakkar and Kayaakan charge the two next to Keth spotting them both. Donaar moves closer hoping to get in on the action.
Keth uses chilling cloud to attack the gnome she can see and hopes she hits the other one too. Travok moves in front of the door to keep gnomes from leaving. Travok keeps one of the gnomes from leaving when he startles it. Kayaakan sees the hidden gnome and kills him! Donaar moves around to block the gnome from leaving. Keth throws a chilling cloud at the gnome next to Vakkar. Donaar moves over trying to see the gnome but can’t. He swings at where he thinks the gnome is and misses. Keth hits the gnome with a magic missile and he turns invisible. One gnome is next to Travok and the door leading out of here. Vakkar hits the gnome and splatters his brains all over the wall. Donaar charges the gnome by Travok and misses him, Keth uses a magic missile at that gnome, splattering its brains and blood all over Travok.
Vakkar was really pissed off by the gnomes because after the battle he took the head of one of the gnomes and placed it on top of its own pickaxe in the corner of the room as warning to other gnomes who might infest this place again. A sort of Gnome Totem. Vakkar finds that one of the gnome arcanists is wearing Caustic gauntlets, which Keth takes and not surprisingly can wear on her slender hands. Vakkar listens at the door and heads into the stairwell which is wooden with wooden railings and mortar supports. The stairs zigzag up the wall. Travok lets everyone know we are coming.
When we reach the first level landing there is a strange symbol on the door. That is when Keth realizes that the gnomes had had some weird stone pieces. She goes back down and grabs the stones and comes back up to the door. The writing is Ancient Netheril, and covered with Runes. The two stones we have will not make up the whole of the hole in the symbol lock. So we must find some more.
We head up to the second level landing. There are people speaking in common through the doors to the right and left. We decided to hide and Keth uses ghost sound on a stairwell to lure them out into a trap.
The people here at the Dormatories all have a symbol on their cloaks, that of a fist crushing a dove. There are two spell casters, three fighters and two rogues.
One of the fighters asks us “Who the hell are you?”
Travok stares down that guy, drinks his ale, says “Who are you?” and he belches.
“What are you guys doing here?”
Then Keth uses cracking acid and ice energies with her prestidigitaion. One of the mages says “That’s pretty cool where did you learn that?”
“Shut up Steve!” The other mage admonishes.
Ignoring him, Keth talks shop about Magic to Steve as a distraction.
Donaar diplomacies the people with what does he know about this place. They ask if we are here about Thoran, and we know that Thoran is name of the Shadar-kai agent who took over this place. Donaar says “Yeah, that's what we're doing here.”
Steve comes out and calls the other mage a dick.
The leader then tells them that he’s leader and that they need to follow his lead and shut up.
Vakkar perceives that they are mercenaries and not that loyal to Thoran.
Travok looks at the rogues and tricks them into thinking that maybe one of them hired him to deliver something.
Keth talks more to Steve causing Steve and the other sorcerer to argue.
Donaar decides to diplomatically tell them that they can leave peacefully.
Vakkar looks at them and tries to figure out where they are from and sees that one of them might be from Weyloon.
Travok looks at one and asks if he wants a drink and that guy says he’s going to kill Travok first.
Keth keeps talking Arcane with the mages and insults not Steve mage’s intellect.
Donaar tells them to leave or fight, and Vakkar does the same, intimidating them.
Travok adds that we are going to attack and they should leave.
Keth asks if they want to see some real magic.
Donaar diplomatically talks with them some more.
These guys have no loyalty to Thoran. They leave after Keth adds more magical persuasion.
We head back to the Throne Room to Rest for the night.
