The Swamp Way Home 24-26 Flamerule 1479 DR

The Order of the Red Circle consists of:
Donaar, a Dragonborn Paladin of Kelemvor,
Travok, a Dwarvin Cleric of Kelemvor,
Scapin the Sly, a Halfling Rogue &
myself - En'Kethradath, an Eladrin War Wizard.

The monks like us alot now, and the next morning and they offer us a keg of whiskey. There is a commotion at the Stable. Thur Gargingrim has shown up, but he had only just left a few days ago. He seems to be arguing with a younger version of himself, there is a big swamp covering the road but he needs to get back to Loudwater asap, and wants us to help. In return he will give us 3% of his whiskey business. So now we are in business profit sharing in Gargringrim’s distribution, and the Monastery of the Precipice Whiskey.

The wagons are pulled by Horses not ponies, like one would expect dwarves to have, and there are donkeys. The wagons are well built and sturdy, and one is a money cart. The horses are in good shape. Three wagons are loaded up with whiskey, a couple have baggage.

He introduces us to his son, Corlacc Gargingrim. So we load up our gear and head out. It takes us a couple of days to get to the edge of the swamp, and of course we go by Taransen’s Grave cause Thur stops there every time. The Smear is slowly expanding and now it covers the road. It has gotten huge!
The increase in size is not a natural phenomenom. There are traces of a spent magical ritual, but Keth has no idea how to shut it down without the source or to turning the area around it back to nature. Doh, Keth's falcon reports there there are humanoid bodies littering the swamp, lizard folk, a dozen or so and they look burned as if by some kind of Acid. Lizard folk slain by large doses of acid, armor and weapons destroyed, Keth is certain that a black dragon has taken up residence in the smear and caused its expanse.

We are going to have to engineer a craft to travel over the swamp, and it will take at least two days for us to travel through the swamp. We set the Gargingrims to building barges for the wagons, while we begin to blaze a trail through the swamp, setting up staves with flags on them. We trail through and come upon a Ravine.
