Escape from Sembia: 22 Mirtul 1479 DR

The Order of the Red Circle consists of:
Donaar, a Dragonborn Paladin of Kelemvor,
Travok, a Dwarvin Cleric of Kelemvor,
Scapin the Sly, a Halfling Rogue &
myself - En'Kethradath, an Eladrin War Wizard.

In the morning we continued on our journey to Suzail. Near sunset, while traveling along a narrow path, in between a 30 ft deep ravine and thick prickly brush, we were ambushed by a party of the newly risen dead. Three skeletal soldiers and their Bone-shard skeleton commander easily surrounded us, while a burning skeleton attacked us from afar.

Surprised in this manner we were nearly defeated. At a tactical disadvantage, I teleported behind a skeletal soldier and away from the burning skeleton. All together we dispatched one of the skeletal soldiers, then while Donaar and I kept the Bone-shard and the other skeletal soldiers distracted, Travok and Scapin teamed up against the Burning Skeleton. Surrounding it, Travok called upon the radiant light of Kelemvor while Scapin used his Sly Flourish and together they defeated it. During this time Donaar and I attacked the Bone-shard until it exploded bone shard fragments, and then we all attacked it until it was felled.

With the defeat of the Bone-shard, Travok and Scapin were able to focus their attacks at the skeletal soldier at Donaar's back. Donaar fell unconscious shortly thereafter and the skeletal soldier he had marked came after me instead. With a magic missile, I destroyed the skeleton and came to Donaar's aid in time to stabilize his condition. Meanwhile, Scapin and Travok had kept attacking the other skeletal soldier wearing it down. At this point none of us looked to be able to sustain even one more blow. The last attack on the skeletal soldier blew him to pieces. I doubt though that any of those dead will remain at peace.

Travok continually prayed to Kelemvor and soon we were all healed, but with the night's approach none of us wanted to risk a night journey. We camped but the night was a restless one and although we were not attacked, none of us felt at our ease.
